The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has charged VicForests with a breach of the Sustainable Forests (Timber) Act 2004.
The breach relates to the protection of rainforest in a timber harvesting coupe in East Gippsland as required under Code of Practice for Timber Production (2014).
The charges have been issued in the Orbost Magistrates’ Court and an initial mention hearing will occur on 19 April 2018.
As this matter is now before court, no further statement will be made.

A 56 year-old Woodend man was fined $750, without conviction, and ordered to pay costs after pleading guilty at the Castlemaine Magistrates Court on Monday 22 January for illegally cutting timber in the Cobaw State Forest on 29 October 2016.
