The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has charged VicForests with a breach of the Sustainable Forests (Timber) Act 2004.
The breach relates to the protection of rainforest in a timber harvesting coupe in East Gippsland as required under Code of Practice for Timber Production (2014).
The charges have been issued in the Orbost Magistrates’ Court and an initial mention hearing will occur on 19 April 2018.
As this matter is now before court, no further statement will be made.

Today, at the Mildura Magistrates Court, a 23 year-old Queensland man was fined $500 without conviction after pleading guilty to lighting a fire in the Murray-Kulkyne Park on 2 March 2017.
